I started the day off going to church and volunteering at Crossroads in Cincinnati, more particularly Oakley. I've been actively serving and attending there for nearly 3 years. After I left church, I went to Kroger in Oakley and bought as few cleaning items for the house and then grabbed a bite to eat for lunch. I then went to Michael's crafts and the sales associate at the store helped me in my search for all the materials I would need to make my very first painting. We started with the 14in x 18in canvas, then moved on to the set of 7 paint brushes, then found the plastic palette that I would use to put the acrylic paint in. I made my way home and turned on some classical music to help me gain inspiration.
I began with a white circle in the middle of a blank canvas mounted on a cheap black tri-pod. I proceeded to blend an orange toned acrylic called "Yellow Ochre" and another acrylic called "Lemon Yellow" to make up the color for the top portion of the painting. I then moved on to the middle portion of the painting where I added a brighter orange acrylic called "Vermilion" to the already blended color from above. Finally I mixed the "Titanium White" used for the center circle with the "Yellow Ochre" and added in "Crimson Red" to create the red-ish blend for the bottom section. I then became inspired to use the black to help display a night scene and laid out a wide-spreading section of land along with two trees standing bare in front of the setting sun.
To my reader and art viewer, this picture can be portrayal of a myriad of things. But to me, this portrays an equal balance of light and dark; one that I very much appreciate. I am proud of my first ever painting and feel very accomplished.
Tomorrow is backward shoe day, where I will be wearing my left shoe on my right foot and my right shoe on my left foot. Let's hope tomorrow ends with a foot massage. :)
